How sad is this?

The post just before this one contains the some WIP list as I was about to post on this one. D'oh! Well, I will be completing at least three of those items come hell or high water, as they are due to be entered in the Mendocino County Fair and Apple Show in a little more than 3 weeks.

I know I'm always promising to post pics, so, just to be consistent; I promise to post pics soon.

Shorty Progress

Or lack thereof. I frogged the inch and a half of ribbing that I had done so far. I frigged up my stitch count God-knows-where, and wasn't feeling very happy with the overall quality of what I had going on there. I'm happy that I ripped it out. I've done about an inch now and it's looking much better than before. Thanks, in part, to one of the handy books that I got for my birthday.

Have I mentioned that Ma and Granny rock?

Heaven, I'm in heaven.

I hit the Mother Lode in birthday gifts this year. Yarn store gift certificates, knitting books! Joy, oh, joy! I can't wait to delve into it all.

Thank you, Ma!

Fair Isle Fun

It may be a itty-bitty bag that I'm making for dd using fair isle technique, but it's a big deal to me. I'm having a lot of fun putting C's name on the little bag and I'm looking forward to adding some more colors and designs.

I finished the two berets for my twin grand nieces, adding the little crocheted flowers and everything. I WILL take a picture of them. It's getting the picture uploaded that seems to be the problem.

I've started the gauge swatch for E's shorties, and as soon as I finish the bag I plan on whipping those up.

Finito Lopez!

That's right. The Bad Penny is complete. She was done Saturday night. I have instructed my sister to have a picture of her modeling it taken and sent to me, as she is flying the coop and moving to Santa Barbara within the next week. I am really pleased with how it came out, there are a couple of things that I learned, for example how NOT to purl into a yarn over (doh!), and should I make another one, I have some insight on what I might do a little differently, but, all in all, I'm really happy with it.

Last night I whipped up the first headband of several that I am planning on making for my DD's birthday gift. I might knit a little bag to put them in as well. Lots of fun!

In the home stretch.

I stayed up way past my bedtime last night and finished the bottom of the Bad Penny. I have the ribbing on the sleeves and the collar left to finish. I must confess that I have done some modification to the pattern, and not because I am some sort of knitting visionary, but because of a slight miscalculation on my yarn quantities. The result is a longer contrast color hem than the pattern prescribes. I am pleased with how it looks, although, I had some trouble with keeping the 1x1 ribbing going during the lace section. Clearly I am not as accomplished at this knitting stuff as I like to think that I am.

I will post a picture when I finish it, although I may have to borrow a camera to do so.

Cursed camera

I was hoping to post a picture of my progress on Bad Penny. But, alas, my camera has ceased to function in the required manner.

I am a bit concerned about my sizing on Bad Penny. I fear that I may have underestimated my sister's height. Oh, well, I guess we'll see.

Boogers.

Oh my achin' back.

I don't know. Is it the result of carrying three children past thier due dates? Is it the result of carrying said children around on my hip upon thier emergence into this big world? Is it from my crappy mattress? Is it the result of years of horrible posture? I suppose that it is a combination of all of these.

Whatever it is, it's really messing with my usually pleasant disposition. I just snapped at my boss twice, and I suspect that if he says something else stupid to me today, I'll do it again. I just feel really run down.

Maybe I'll go look at some yarn porn. Or download more patterns to add to the giant stack. I don't know, even those usually diverting activities don't sound all that exciting to me today.

Groan.

Change of color.

I'm pleased to report that I have changed needle size and color on my Bad Penny. I'm now starting the ribbing at the bottom. It's a gorgeous blue color. I'm really quite content with the progress I'm making. With 3 kids, a husband, a 28 hour a week job, and all that comes with it, I feel that I'm chuggin' right along on it. I am excited to finish it, I've got yarn for at least 3 more projects in my stash, and I've got a very long list of objects I would like to make.

proof of knitting

This is a small sampling of some of the finished objects that I've done in the last year. I have many more, and hope at some point to share them all.

A sweater for my niece's son. It has very cute elephant buttons. It's DK weight yarn. The brand is escaping me at the moment. Something readily available no doubt.

Here we've got a baby doll modeling a set that my mother (a much more accomplished knitter than I) oredered from me for one of her former employee's baby shower. The hat is in Plymouth, DK weight yarn, some discontinued color I got on sale at my LYS. The poncho is my variation on a pattern. It was my first real go at using a collection of my skills to create something totally unique.

This is a hat/scarf set I made for my eldest DD's school fundraiser as an auction item. Hard to see, but the scarf is a faux cable pattern to lend it some interest and the hat is actually crocheted. It's in Plymouth Encore, my old standby.

Here we have a soaker I knit for an online buddy's babe. It's a Little Turtle Knits pattern (great pattern, very easy to follow) and it's in a yarn that she purchased for me to use. Naturally I'm drawing a blank on the name but it's very cool stuff.

This pic I'm sharing 'cuz I think it looks cool. It's my first foray into garterlac. Loads of fun, but my product is nought but a dishcloth. Not to sexy. I find this close up a tad more inspiring.

Back in Blogland.

I've attempted this sort of thing, and by that I mean, blogging, in the past. Perhaps this time I'll make a better go of it.
